About "Over The Line" Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon

The ultimate Banana Zone collector's item. Because wine has a banana zone too. HODL.

About the Winemaker:

Peter Douglas has four decades of winemaking experience. He started his career in 1985 at Wynns in Coonawarra where he was head winemaker. During his tenure, Wynns was acquired by then Southcorp Group, increasing his responsibilities to include the making of icons such as Penfolds Grange, Bin 707 and 389. From 1999 onwards, Peter made wine in the U.S. and Italy before moving back to Coonawarra. As a winemaker, Peter’s name is synonymous with passion for the region and for Cabernet.

About GWB Wines

GWB Wines' Over the Line brand defies conventional wisdom. When Jack Burston approached Peter Douglas to build a business together, Peter asked, “What’s the mandate?” Jack simply replied, “Make our best wine.” “Oh, and by the way, you’ll find our best fruit on the 60 hectares we own on the eastern side of the rail line—not the 120 hectares on the western side,” Jack added. However, about six weeks later, as harvest began, Peter informed Jack that the best fruit was actually on the western side of the line! Of the 50 winemakers Jack has sold fruit to, not a single one had ever said that before.

About the Region:

Coonawarra is one of the world’s great wine regions. It’s centered on the town of Coonawarra on the Limestone Coast of South Australia, and best known for Cabernet Sauvignon wines produced on its striking and singular red-earth or “terra rossa" soils. It’s nearly 400 km south-east of Adelaide, very close to the border with Victoria. Being just 60 km from the sea, Coonawarra has a somewhat maritime-like climate, not dissimilar to Bordeaux.

About the Wine:

The inaugural release of Over the Line's Cabernet Sauvignon "BZ" Cuvée is a "selection of selections".

Imagine picking just the top 0.2% of berries at harvest, and then using only the most cutting-edge and costly winemaking techniques. After years in cask, you again select the finest handful of barrels, followed by extended bottle maturation. A minuscule number of unique, wax-sealed 6L Imperial bottles were produced and specially named in celebration of the Banana Zone. Because don't forget, wine has a Banana Zone too. HODL.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Club dVIN?

Club dVIN is the world’s premier global NFT wine club. We are a community built by wine lovers, founded to celebrate the authenticity and diversity of wine culture. Our members will have access to a world of unrivalled wine and gastronomic events, exclusive offers on rare bottles, and an elite community of like-minded enthusiasts and experts - not to mention some of the most interesting producers on the planet.

When can I buy a Club dVIN membership?

Club dVIN Membership is now closed. Sip your way in by acquiring a Tasting Token to unlock purchasing power. If you are an organization rooted in wine or an NFT community looking to partner, please email us at info@clubdvin.com.

What is a Non-fungible-Token (NFT)?

Think of two $100 bills. It doesn’t matter which one you use to buy your bottle of bubbly - the shop will take either, because they are interchangeable. That’s what makes banknotes ‘fungible’. ETH or Bitcoin are also examples of fungible tokens. A Non-Fungible Token (NFT) is different because it’s non-interchangeable. Each one is unique, like a one-of-a-kind trading card or rare bottle of wine. Through the use of blockchain technology, NFTs are able to establish verified and public proof that the digital or real-world assets they are connected to are original and authentic.

Are NFTs bad for the environment?

Club dVIN is committed to employing the most environmentally friendly blockchain technology. Currently, we are using the Polygon blockchain for all of our Digital Cork and Tasting Token NFTs. Polygon's PoS validators "consume electricity energy which is multiple orders of magnitude below PoW-based blockchain miners and that translates to more eco-friendliness and considerably fewer carbon emissions. Unlike other systems, over time, it can be reasonably predicted that with technical improvements in node technology, our validators will become more efficient in both validating transactions and consuming electricity accordingly." Read more about Polygon's environmental practices here.

Why use NFTs for Club dVIN?

An NFT is a simple and automatically generated contract. It is low cost, efficient, easily transferable, and fun. As an NFT, your membership is an asset which can later be sold or transferred to others on the secondary market. By utilizing NFT's, dVIN is able to create a loyal, member-community for whom we can provide unrivaled wine experiences.

What is ETH and how do I get it?

ETH (currency symbol Ξ) is the cryptocurrency of the Ethereum blockchain. Cryptocurrencies are not available for purchase through banks or online brokerages. Instead, they are purchased and traded online through crypto-specific trading platforms. You’ll need to choose one of these exchange platforms to fund your account. Once you’ve done that you will be all set to place an order for Ethereum. Your new ETH balance will then be stored on the exchange until you decide to transfer it to your crypto wallet.

What is a wallet? Why do I need one?

A crypto wallet is a secure virtual, well… wallet! It is accessible online and facilitates the transactions of crypto-currencies and other digital assets - like NFTs - between owners and end-users.

dVIN is compatible with most major Web3 wallets including Metamask and Torus. If you don’t have a wallet yet, you can sign up for one through the dVin app with Tor.us. This wallet will be linked to the email or social profile you connect it with, and you’ll be able to use it anywhere in Web3 in the future. If you need help getting set up we are happy to assist you through your dVIN account.

Can I purchase it with US dollars via my credit/debit card?

Our public launch is in ETH, which means that you will need a private crypto wallet to receive your membership token. We are developing a path for NFT newbies to purchase the Club dVIN membership token using a credit card in USD, but that will only be available to our waitlist.
